Sundays
On most Sundays there are three opportunities to meet together for worship.
Sunday morning worship at Strathmore Road Methodist Church starts at 10.45 am. The services are inclusive and family friendly with areas for babies and a thriving Sunday Club for young people. We have sung worship led by our band and preachers from the South West Tyneside Methodist Circuit.
Each Sunday we run a number of different clubs for our children. On a typical Sunday our children will join us for the first part of the service, and then will leave to join their groups. We have ‘Bubbles’ for toddlers to 5 and ‘xstream’ for 6-18. Once a month we have ‘Forest Church’ where we meet outside around a campfire with marshmallows and hot chocolate and use our beautiful Church garden to connect to God. Babies are welcome in our service, and we have a sensory area for them to enjoy in the worship area.
Sunday morning worship is followed by tea and coffee which everyone is invited to join.
Every few weeks there will be a communion service - anyone is welcome to receive the sacrament, regardless of your denomination or faith.
The Sunday morning worship at Chopwell usually follows a traditional pattern and begins at 10.30.
The Sunday evening service at Strathmore Road takes place weekly at 6.00 pm and lasts about an hour.
The worship usually follows “traditional lines” with hymns from Singing the Faith hymn book normally accompanied on the organ.
You will be made to feel very welcome so why not come along and experience it for yourself?
The list of preachers each week is available on the Circuit website here.
